Guest speaker, Jon Johnson, holds a unique view and perspective on current events concerning the federal government’s consolidation initiatives that center on the General Services Administration. He is the only person who has worked for both GSA’s IT Category and NASA’s SEWP program.

During this conversation Mr. Johnson will touch upon:

  • The origins of NASA’s SEWP Program.
  • The assumptions that underly the government’s initiatives on strategic sourcing and category management and how they apply to the current federal initiatives.
  • Current events on GWAC consolidation including GSA’s proposed consolidation of IDIQ contracts and why GSA should not consolidate all contracts.
  • How companies should prepare for the award of SEWP VI.
  • Personal experience at both GSA and NASA SEWP.

Jon Johnson

Mr. Jon Johnson is an independent Advisor and Strategist for serving federal programs and companies doing business with the federal government.

Mr. Johnson has been working with NASA’s SEWP program for more than 6 years assisting their executive leadership. Mr. Johnson authored several papers on commercial standards and NIST Special Publications related to Supply-Chain Risk Management. He has spoken on standards, sourcing, security, and federal acquisitions before senior executives at several federal government and international groups and forums.

Previously Mr. Johnson worked at the General Services Administration (2009-2018) and held various tactical and leadership roles for government-wide procurement initiatives involving Cloud Computing, Digital Government Strategy, Mobile Technology, Wireless Telecommunications, Strategic Sourcing, Category Management, and Supply-Chain Risk Management.

As a civil servant Mr. Johnson was the recipient of individual and group award recognition by ACT-IAC, ATARC, ISC2, and was the recipient of the Fed100 for his work on Wireless Telecommunications and Mobile Technology acquisition initiatives.
